Carpal-X The carpal tunnel is a passage in the wrist formed by a semi-circle of carpal bones connected with a tough membrane called the transverse carpal ligament that holds the bones together. Nerves, tendons, blood and other soft tissues run through this passage or tunnel. The median nerve is the major nerve of the hand. This nerve enters the hand through the gap formed by the carpal bones and transverse ligament. The median nerve supplies sensation to the thumb-side of the palm, and to the thumb, index finger, middle finger, and the thumb-side of the ring finger. It also supplies movement to part of the hand. Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) is caused by pressure exerted on the median nerve at the wrist. The passageway or tunnel in which the nerves, tendons, blood and soft tissue run through is rigid, with a defined space that is unable to enlarge. Swelling of any of the tissues in this area can cause compression of the median nerve. This swelling has no place to expand because it is encircled by bones and ligaments. Pressure builds in the tunnel leading to compression of the median nerve and obstruction of blood flow that retards healing and causes further cell degeneration. When this happens, carpal tunnel symptoms begin to present themselves. Classic CTS symptoms are tingling and numbness in the thumb, index and middle finger, aching in the forearm which can radiate to the shoulder and clumsiness or weak grip. CTS is most commonly found in people who perform excessive repetitive tasks, such as data entry typists, carpenters, laboratory technicians etc. Some other reasons for this swelling are from injury, friction, fractures, fluid retention, forceful movements and infection. Women between the ages of 40 and 60 appear to be prime candidates for developing CTS. CTS has also been linked with women who are pregnant or taking birth control pills and has also been reported in patients on kidney dialysis. Deficiency of certain essential nutrients is believed to be responsible for CTS. Supplementation of the deficient nutrients should be considered as a first line of defense. Similarly, consumption of clinically proven ingredients that reduce inflammation and improve circulation may provide some relief without the side effects of the prescription anti-inflammatory medication. Periodic breaks from the repetitive tasks and stretching exercises are also believed to be beneficial. The goal in the relief of CTS is to alleviate the pressure and subsequent swelling to prevent further damage that could possibly be irreversible if left untreated. Carpal-X has been synergistically formulated to replenish the necessary ingredients that may relieve some of the symptoms associated with CTS. A combination of stretching exercises and Carpal-X may provide you with the tools you need to combat CTS. MAT: Maximum Assimilation Technology is a proprietary blend of nutritional ingredients that increases assimilation and bioavailability of nutrients by 30% or more, depending on the formulation.
